Requirements & Limitations
GetNotify.com is an absolutely free
Email Tracking system that sends you a Notification Email as soon as the
recipient opens and reads your Email.
GetNotify Requirements
Both you and your recipient must use an HTML-formatted email, not a
plain-text or rich text formatted Email. GetNotify works by using a tracking
image which is actually located on our server and its reference is embedded in your
HTML email message. When your recipient opens your Email, the tracking image
automatically gets downloaded from our server. This notifies us us that your
sent Email has been opened and read by the recipient and we send you and an automatic
Notification Email is sent to you instantly.
General Limitations
As the tracking device, GetNotify relies on the tracking image
download. Its limitations are;
There are times when
GetNotify doesn't
know that your Email is opened. This is because of failure of tracking image
from being downloaded by the recipient. The main reasons for this are:

You or your recipient use plain-text
email or rich-text Email instead of HTML email.

You use an HTML email, but
somehow your software turns the GetNotify tracking image into an
inline attachment instead of a downloadable remote image coming from
our server (See "Tested Software" below)

Your recipient disables or
blocks the automatic image download on their Email software

The recipient's firewall, anti-spyware,
anti-virus, anti-spam or anti-whatever software may mistakenly block
or alter your email that contains a downloadable image (See "Tips"
below)

The recipient's or your
Email
provider or network does not allow a downloadable image in the Email
and delete or alter it
GetNotify will track Email read every
time the tracking image is downloaded from our server. This happens when the
recipient opens and read your sent email, but this can also happen in one of
the following ways.
The recipients forwards your email to
others and they open it. GetNotify cannot tell you who has opened the Email.
But we can tell you the IP address of all readers who have opened the email.
You can sign-in to GetNotify.com to see the tracking details of any Email
which has opened at least once. At the end of tracking detail, a summary is
provided to you which tells you that how many times your Email has been
opened and by how many readers (With reference to IP address of reader)
Group Emails
If you send out a group email with multiple recipients with a GetNotify
tracking image in it, you will still be notified whenever a recipient opens
your email, but you will not know which recipient has opened it (But
you will get the IP address of the recipient).
Important Tips
It's often better to use GetNotify with the recipients you have been
Emailing before than with those you never have. That's because these known
recipients' firewall, anti-spyware or anti-spam software may have "learned"
about your Emails, put your Email address into their whitelist, and
therefore let your Emails with GetNotify through without any problem.
In addition, try to avoid sending a very short message and/or gibberish in
your email along with GetNotify as this may be mistakenly thought as a spam
by the recipient's anti-spam software.
Not received Notification? Check Your Spam Folder
If you didn't get your Notification Email, check your junk email or spam
folder as it may have gone there. You may also need to adjust your junk
email filter to allow emails from the GetNotify.com domain. Save @getnotify.com
to your safe list or whitelist.
Tested Software
GetNotify has been tested with Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 2, Outlook 2003
and Web-based email clients (e.g. Yahoo! Mail, GMail, Hotmail, AOL Mail,
etc.) on Windows XP platform. It has not been tested with other software and
on other platforms (e.g. Mac, Linux, etc.). As an Email sender, you may or
may not be able to use GetNotify with un-tested software or platform. Your
email recipients, however, should not have any problem regardless what
software and platform they use.
